When monetary funds come into Transforming People’s Lives, they are invested with our investment partner so they can provide a return of a percentage based on the capital value we have. This will then be distributed to one or more of our panel of charities as appropriate.
We are also able to make donations directly from donors who put monetary funds into the charity though not necessarily within the investment.
Our goal is to build up the endowment fund, so this has a long-lasting effect and is a legacy for the future of (and for) Transforming People’s Lives.
Transforming People’s Lives differs from larger charities because we provide funding within five prioritised categories of need – mental health, homelessness, amateur sport, addition and street children. This is particularly pertinent and powerful for donors as it enables donations to go to their preferred area, and they can feel safe in the knowledge that due diligence has been carried out by the trustees on each specific charity.
As part of our due diligence, we check all charities are registered with the Charities Commission and the trustees and Chief Executive of each charity is assessed by Transforming People’s Lives.
We have steadily increased the panel of charities that will benefit from monies received, either from the endowment or directly from donations. These charities have either been specified by donors or named in a legacy, such as a will – providing the direction the donor would like their money to have most impact.
