Fundraiser

Body

If you are thinking about fundraising for Transforming People’s Lives and those we support, to make things as easy as possible for you, we’ve outlined the steps you can take to make your efforts a success:

Register your initiative

Once you’ve decided you will be supporting our charities and fundraising on our behalf, you will need to let us know. Our wonderful trustees will be happy to help with any queries you may have, get in touch via phone 020 8530 1970 or email info@transformingpeopleslives.org to start things off.

Get creative

First, decide whether you would like to take part in an organised event, such as a marathon. If this is your preference, you may want to skip to step number 3.

If you would rather host your own event or activity, the more creative you get, the more fun you’re likely to have.

If you feel you’d like to do something that ties in with one of our charities – perhaps running that marathon, doing a dog jog, walking, cycling, swimming or other sporting event or activity, these types of events would work well for supporting our amateur sports charities for disadvantaged children and young people. Or you may want to set your sights on something more adventurous, like a skydive.

Should you prefer to play to your strengths or simply make fundraising fun, you could consider events such as hosting a bake sale or bake off, a raffle, quiz night or charity ball, for example. Or, if you are into gaming, there is always the option of gaming for good.

Whatever you choose to do, if it’s enjoyable, you are more likely to make it a success.

Establish your target

You’re likely to want your target to be ambitious but keep it realistic. Encourage donors to want to give. Having a goal gives you something to work towards.

Tell people why their support is so important

Getting your message out there is vital for hitting that target. People will only consider donating if they know what their support will do for someone in need. If it’s a cause that has resonated with them, or is close to their heart, they will be more inclined to dig deep.

Loved ones or those that know you are likely to donate because they want to support you.

Whatever their reason for contributing, it’s important to let your supporters know the difference they will make – no matter how large or small their donation – to the lives of those most in need.

Make donating easy

However you choose to promote your event, remember to make it easy for your supporters to donate.

You may find the process easier to manage and promote if you are online, and it is likely to make things easier for your supporters too. With the right page and payment method, they will be able to contribute at the click of a donate button.

Connect your page to an app

Where appropriate, consider connecting your page with fitness apps such as Fitbit and Strava if possible. That way you can show your supporters the progress you’re making.

Promote as much as you possibly can

Get the word out on social media, tell family, friends and colleagues about your efforts, who you want to help and why.

Send reminders out

A gentle nudge will keep your event or activity in a potential supporter’s mind. A good way to do this is with updates on the progress you’re making and what good your donations will achieve.

Thank your sponsors for their involvement

Showing your appreciation for your sponsors’ support will remind them of what they have helped you to achieve, the individuals and communities they have helped, and why their funds were so needed.
